PBC0186: sadness at suffering

PBC 186 expresses sadness at Russian suffering, though most often directed at peasant suffering (W174, W420, W422). This feeling can be directed at past events or at present struggles. Sometimes the feeling is mixed with irritation at peasant passivity (“There is no dynamism in you!” (W115). Because this PBC appears at many different times, the context and message will be different. For example, one example blames Western European countries for the “hungry hell” in the Volga region at the end of the civil war (W322).
