PBC0256: personal sadness

PBC 256 describes quite varied tonalities of personal sadness from unfulfilled personal love relationships. In one case, a stylized peasant tale tells about a poor young village girl who is ignored in the marriage game (W302). Others are lyrics of personal sorrow at end of an affair (W5, W6). These experiences are always connected in some way to a place, and often in the north of European Russia.
