PBC0208: hope for new life

Using several quite different tonalities, PBC 208 projects strong hope for a new upsurge of life across Russia’s rural and urban areas. Moods range from critical belief in broad “cultural” education to promote a more tolerant society and reasoned argument about Russians’ industrial development as the path to a freer life to inspirational treatments of rural awakening. In one poem this PBC sees rural Russia at the “gates of paradise” (W193).
