Mapping Imagined Geographies of Revolutionary Russia

PBC0204: love of homeland

Works using PBC 204 convey pro-revolution writers’ deep rootedness in their native village and steppe regions. Russia, called “Rus” (W175, W176) and “rodina” (W191, W196, W556), is pictured as a colorful, noisy, and generally unchanging though also beloved rural landscape (W542). This adoration of rural home can also be tinged with some tones of irony and impishness.
