PBC0020: grief at death of a place

PBC 20 expresses grief over the dying high culture of a beloved city, typically St Petersburg (Petrograd). The city holds many vivid personal and literary memories (W0355). However, with war and revolution everything is changing, and PBC 20 refers to this change as death and associates the cherished city with an “irreal” place, either the underworld (W353) or paradise (W14).
