PBC0146: pride in heroism

PBC 146 evokes a nationalist pride in the Russia and Russians’ heroism. These supporters “stand for their Christian land,” for their “mother,” with her green spaces and birch trees (W297). One invokes an ancient hero, Il’ia Muromets, who in the face “massive hordes on the fields of [his] native land” (W290) burns with the desire for revenge.
