PBC0065: hope for autonomy

PBC 65 celebrates Siberia’s transformation from its past as an empty space, a “non-place,” signifying only a road to imprisonment and oppression, to a vision of a new country that would be “sister” of a newly awakened Russia. Some works featuring PBC 65 heroize visionary nineteenth-century Siberian leaders such as Nikolai Iadrintsev and Grigorii Potanin.
