PBC0028: dread of open road

PBC28 describes vast empty spaces and expresses the existential dread that they inspire. The emptiness of roads, steppes and fields is overwhelming. The fear of these empty spaces, it is implied with deep irony, arises from the “silence,” “peace,” and physical immobility imposed on peasants (W0184). PBC 28 represents a non-Bolshevik political inclination.
