PBC0250: arrogant confidence

PBC 250 expresses an arrogant confidence that the speaker, a peasant poet, will soon “be known to all” (W549) or, in another instance, is already the “best poet in Russia” (W196) and the spokesperson for all rural Russia. It helps to know that peasant poets as a group were easily the most talented poets from the newly literate strata of Russian society, much more so than worker poets, though they did not enjoy the favor of the new Bolshevik government.
