PBC0183: hope for worker power

PBC 183 finds the monumental force of labor as Russia’s greatest hope for national renewal. One example prays, “Let the sun of Truth and Labor/ Rise over Red Rus’” (W107). Another imagines the future as a “new, bright palace of labor/ Flaming in the light of dawn” (W419). Russia in its most powerful and endearing terms—the ancient name for Russia (Rus’) and the motherland (rodina)—are reimagined as a “new Sun” (W421) and the place for “universal brotherhood” at the “dawn of a new labor commune” (W443). Following Rus’, the world will bring about the new, just “red redistribution” (W527).
