PBC0011: grief at destruction
PBC 11 expresses a Bolshevik’s relatively rare feeling of grief at Russia’s “flaming hell” and the destruction caused by war (W43). The streets are full of “weeping bullets” and “red coffins” (W431). This PBC gives a strong impressin of the city during civil war as an irreal place filled with unutterable pain and death.
