PBC0093: solidarity of soldiers

PBC 93 imagines a scene of solidarity, albeit fleeting, between Russian and enemy soldiers. Music, a form of communication shared by everyone, plays a role in each moment of brotherhood between enemies. A Russian soldier feels for a “mad German” brought to song by the loneliness of war and yearning for his beloved (W304).
