PBC0130: hope for victory

PBC 130 expresses the life-affirming hope felt by Bolshevik Proletkult writers for a victorious struggle against oppressive forces of the antebellum establishment. Their earnest gaze turns to the bright sky in the lowest times, such as when, “From the profound depths of the mines we saw the sun” (W383). Distant celestial bodies provide not only emotional support but have also joined the Bolsheviks’ fight. Another observes that, “The pattern of stars have woven banners … the words Ro So Fe So and Re,” or the name of the newly formed RSFSR.
